EN & JP - Izanai Yosakoi on Maui 2014

After we returned from Honolulu to Maui, we had an event called "A Prayer of Sound and Dance" with the Japanese dancers on March 11th.

Yuichiro and Shinnosuke Kunitomo danced with a Japanese musician, Hiroki Okano.

Natsumi Yamada as a dancer and K Alan Roth as a musician joined the evening as special guests.

I danced Odissi as an opening item.

We dedicated our work to the souls who have been affected by the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11th, 2011.

ホノルルからマウイに戻ってきてすぐの3月11日、日本から来ている踊り子さんたちと一緒に「音と踊りの祈り」というショーを作らせて頂きました。

素晴らしい踊り手、國友悠一朗と國友慎之介が、ミュージシャン岡野弘幹さんの生演奏と共に踊りました。また、踊り手の山田なつみとミュージシャンのケイ・アラン・ロスがスペシャルゲストとして参加しました。

私はオープニングとして、オディッシィダンスを踊らせて頂きました。

東日本大震災で亡くなれた、また悲しみを負った方々を心にしかりと想いながら踊らせて頂きました。

I had school to teach that day. After work, I quickly went home, put on the whole costume and make up - transformed from being a school teacher to a dancer.

その日は平日でしたので、教師の仕事がありました。学校が終ってから、急いで家に帰って、衣装に着替え、メイクをして会場に向かいました。学校の先生から踊り子に変わったところです。

The event was held at the Maui Sacred Earth. The venue had this beautiful sky window. Someone was cleaning it when this photo was taken.

マウイ・セイクレッド・アースというところで行われたのですけど、そこにはこんなに大きな天窓が付いています。丁度、スタッフさんが掃除をしているところでした。

We had a wonderful time sharing the space together.

みんなで素晴らしい時を過ごさせて頂きました。

On the last day of their stay, we had a nice get-together.
I have known many of them for many years. I felt sad to say good bye to them, but I knew that I would see them and dance with them again soon.

日本からやってきたダンサーたちのマウイ滞在最後の日には、みんなで懇談会（パーティー）をしました。
長年知っている仲間たちですから、みんなが去っていくのは寂しかったですけど、でもまた会って一緒に踊れる日がすぐに来るから大丈夫。
