Hello, a big tree.
This summer, I had several privileges to work on Joshua's land in Hana :)
大きな木さん、こんにちは。
この夏は、光栄にも（笑）ハナにあるジョシュアの土地で働く機会に何度か恵まれました。

You pinch the bottom of the plant you want to take out...
こうやって抜きたい植物の根の方を挟んで・・・
All you have to do is to put your weight on it.
Due to the principle of leverage, it comes off so easily.
This is soooooooo fun!
It's addicting, and once I begin, I cannot stop...
あとは体重のせるだけ。
てこの原理で簡単に抜けちゃうのです！
これがすっごーーーく楽しいの！
やり出したらやみ付きになっちゃって、止まらない・・・

A break is heavenly with fresh coco water.
新鮮なココナッツジュースを飲んで一休み。あぁ、極楽。
It's a nap time. Put a bunch of cardboards on a trailer.
トレーラーの上にダンボール箱を重ねてお昼寝タイム。
We took quite some detective time to find this border mark, but we did.
お隣さんとの境界線の印探しにしばしの時間を費やしました。
We planted pumpkin (squash). Hopefully, they grow!
かぼちゃを植えました。育ってくれるかな？
In Nahiku (near Hana), Joshua was asked to cut down a huge Eucalyptus tree since it was hazardous to a house built next to it. He did not want to just let it go waste after being cut, so in these photos, he is milling it. Cutting a beautiful, long-lived tree is sad, but trees have their life spans like many living creatures do (although theirs is much longer), and it helps us to feel better if they can have the second life.
ハナの近くにあるナヒクというところで、大きなユーカリの木が家に倒れてきたら大変だから切ってくれとジョシュアは頼まれ、それを切って、そのまま捨ててしまうのはもったいないから製材しているところ。長年育ってきた木を切るのは悲しいけれど、木にも寿命があるし（種類によっては他の生命体より随分長いけれど）、寿命の後に第二の人生を持ってもらえたら嬉しい。

From the fallen tree, a new life is breathing out.

I had never seen such a long saw before.
こんなに長いのこぎりを見たのは初めて。

(Removing rubber trees by hands. This was also fun. I sat on the earth; no one was around, just me and the nature... I went into the zone, quite meditative.)
